Public hospital nurse here (restructured hospital under MOH). Adding the public healthcare perspective:
If you're a Singapore citizen or PR and qualify for T2D treatment, GLP-1s at public hospitals (SGH, NUH, TTSH, CGH) are subsidised:
- Ozempic at subsidised rate: SGD$180-250/month depending on your subsidy tier (based on means testing)
- Pioneer/Merdeka Generation patients get additional subsidies — can be as low as SGD$80-120/month
- CDMP + Medisave combination can bring effective cost down further
The catch: public hospital endocrinology wait times are 3-6 months for a new appointment. And they're very strict about the T2D indication — they won't prescribe for weight management alone.
For Singaporean citizens with T2D, the public healthcare route is genuinely affordable. For obesity-only patients or expats without T2D, private clinics are the only realistic option.
