Alcohol simply stopped appealing, which I did not expect and which has been more socially complicated than the weight loss.

The narrow version of the question is whether the change in tolerance is the smaller stomach, the smaller body, or something central, and whether it settles.

Tell me what I have not thought of.

This one has a reasonably settled answer, so here it is. If two explanations both fit, the useful question is which one predicts something the other does not. That is answerable; arguing about which sounds more plausible is not.

TirzTom has the substance of this right. The condition it depends on is worth stating. Yes, and the corollary is less popular: if the reasoning holds, it also holds where it produces an answer we do not like.

This matches mine closely enough to be worth saying so out loud.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads. Most of what circulates confidently in this community traces back to one summary of one study, and the qualifier was dropped somewhere in the third retelling.
