Asked to pay by a method with no recourse, by a supplier I had used twice before without being asked, which is what made me stop.

What I actually want to know is how people are thinking about the trade-off between reversibility and privacy, because you cannot have both.

I have searched first, so if this is covered somewhere point me at it and I will read it.

This one has a reasonably settled answer, so here it is. It is worth asking what the claim would look like if it were false. If nothing would look different, it is not a claim about the world and no amount of discussion will settle it.

That is right for the common case. Whether it is right for the case being asked about depends on a detail that has not been given.

Same pattern here, and in the same order.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads. Start from the measurement rather than the conclusion. Almost every disagreement here turns out to be two people measuring different things and comparing the numbers anyway.
