Training four times a week throughout and the scale has barely acknowledged it, which is demoralising in a way I did not expect.

What I actually want to know is what training is actually for during a large deficit, because framing it as calorie burn sets people up to quit when the arithmetic disappoints them.

Practical detail welcome, however dull — the duller the better.

Short answer first, then the reasoning. The line between titrate-through and stop is not severity, it is trajectory and what else is present. Nausea that peaks and improves within a week is the expected pattern. Nausea that is escalating, or that comes with severe upper-abdominal pain radiating to the back, or that prevents fluids for more than a day, is a different conversation and belongs with a clinician the same day.

Agreeing with mike_nyc, and the qualification matters more than the agreement. The meal advice is right and incomplete without the hydration point. People stop drinking because drinking makes them feel full, then attribute dehydration symptoms to the drug.

Agreed on adaptation, with a caveat: adaptation applies to gastric emptying and not to everything. If your problem is the aversion rather than the fullness, waiting does less, because the aversion is central and it is the mechanism working as intended.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads.

Exercise-induced nausea amplification with training: I learned the hard way that intense exercise within 24 hours of injection can make nausea much worse. The combination of delayed gastric emptying + exercise-induced blood flow redistribution is rough on the GI system.

My workaround: inject Friday evening, do low-intensity activity Saturday, and save my intense workouts for Tuesday-Thursday when the GI effects have subsided. Timing your training around your injection schedule is a real optimization strategy.
