I have used three payment routes and the only thing that changed with each was how much leverage I had when something went wrong.

What I am trying to establish is how people are thinking about the trade-off between reversibility and privacy, because you cannot have both.

If the honest answer is that nobody knows, that is a useful answer and I would rather have it.

Short answer first, then the reasoning. It helps to ask what evidence would change your mind before you look at any. If nothing would, the discussion is not about evidence, and it is better to say so early than to spend nine posts discovering it.

Correct as far as it goes. The part it does not cover is what to do when the honest answer is "not enough data", which is more often than anyone likes.

This is my experience too, for whatever a second data point is worth.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads. The distinction that resolves most of these threads is between what is true on average and what is true for one person. Both are real; they answer different questions and get quoted as if they were the same one.
