I got a full panel before starting and a repeat at three months, and the second one is more useful than the first purely because I now have something to compare against.

The narrow version of the question is how often to repeat it, because quarterly seems to be the convention and I cannot find the reasoning.

If the honest answer is that nobody knows, that is a useful answer and I would rather have it.

Taking the question as asked, rather than the general version of it. The single most useful discipline is bringing the whole panel to a clinician rather than one flagged value. One out-of-range result in isolation generates anxiety and unnecessary tests; the same result next to the trend and the rest of the panel usually generates a shrug.

No disagreement with Dr.PainCLE. One condition attached. One addition: if the lab changes analytical platform between your draws, the comparison breaks and nobody tells you. It is worth asking when a value moves inexplicably.

Can confirm the pattern traveltech_sara describes. Quarterly for the first year is convention rather than evidence, and it is defensible for a simple reason: it is roughly the interval over which HbA1c becomes informative again, since it reflects about three months of glycaemia. After the first year, and once doses are stable, annual is reasonable unless something specific is being followed.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly.

Shot day Monday report relevant to baseline bloodwork:

Week 35. Currently on 1.7mg. Down 41 lbs from starting weight of 253 lbs.

This week's observations: Appetite very well controlled, no cravings.

Labs due next week — looking forward to seeing the metabolic panel. I'll post results in the Lab Results section when they come in.
