The pH may also differ slightly. These differences can affect subcutaneous absorption kinetics — not dramatically, but potentially enough to alter the pharmacokinetic profile in sensitive individuals.

3. Delivery device: Ozempic uses a multi-dose pen with adjustable dosing. Wegovy uses a single-use prefilled autoinjector. The injection depth, speed, and volume delivered per second can all vary, which affects local tissue distribution.

4. Concentration: Ozempic solution is 1.34 mg/mL (for the 1mg pen) or higher for the 2mg pen. Wegovy 2.4mg is delivered in 0.75 mL. The concentration of the solution affects how it forms a subcutaneous depot and how quickly it's absorbed.

The injection device difference is huge imo. The Wegovy autoinjector jabs WAY harder than the Ozempic pen. I get a visible bruise every single time with Wegovy. Never had that with Ozempic.

I've been on both and I agree there's a perceptible difference. For me Wegovy hits faster — I feel the appetite suppression within about 4-6 hours, whereas Ozempic seemed to take a full day to "kick in." Could be the absorption difference from the excipient/device changes mentioned above.

Also the Wegovy autoinjector is LOUD. That click startled me every single time for the first month 😂

Wait I had no idea the excipients were different. I assumed it was literally the same liquid in a different pen. That's... kind of important? Especially for people with propylene glycol sensitivity?
