Sharing my comprehensive lab data relevant to lean mass: Biomarker Baseline Month 3 Month 6 Month 9 Weight (lbs) 273 238 223 213 A1C (%) 7.8 6.3 6.2…

This matches mine closely enough to be worth saying so out loud. Posting only so the count is not one.

Regarding lean mass: I accidentally injected my dose intramuscularly instead of subcutaneously last week (went in at wrong angle, too deep).

Physical therapist weighing in on lean mass. I work with bariatric and metabolic patients daily.

The resistance training evidence is critical here:

The Lundgren 2024 JAMA paper[1] showed that structured resistance training preserved 73% more lean mass in GLP-1 patients vs medication alone. When discussing lean mass, we MUST include the exercise component.

My minimum prescription: 3x/week compound movements (squat, deadlift, press, row), progressive overload, 7-10K steps/day, and 1.2-1.6g protein/kg/day.

Body composition tracking via bioimpedance on lean mass (InBody scan every 3 months):

MetricBaselineMonth 3Month 6Month 9
Skeletal Muscle (lbs)69676973
Body Fat (lbs)106716141
Body Fat %41%32%26%20%
Visceral Fat (cm²)1661118656

Note: skeletal muscle mass dipped initially then recovered with consistent resistance training + high protein. The visceral fat reduction is where the metabolic magic happens.

One thing that is still open after josh_phd_bmore’s answer:

Was that from a primary source or from a summary of one?
